In the spirit of travel blogs, I thought I would recount the most amazing trip I took to Italy and Greece this spring.

I went on an 11-day epic in celebration of my dad's wedding. We toured Europe with a group of 18 close family and friends. Hopefully I will chronicle our journey warmly, and as accurately as I can through all of the exciting moments.
We began by meeting at the Chicago O'Hare airport and traveled through Lisbon on our way to Rome. Our large group traveled 14 hours before setting foot in Italy around 10:30PM. We had a mile and a half walk to our hotel over cobblestone streets and past locals who gave us the side eye for being a group of 18 wheeling carryon luggage through the middle of the street. We stopped for a refreshing dinner before encountering the Trevi Fountain.

(Me, myself, leading the group through Rome)

Even at midnight, the fountain was absolutely packed with people.
We got back to our hotel and decided to go out to the clubs and bars to celebrate a girl in our party's birthday. It was an eventful night, to say the least. It was a great time for me to get to know the other folks who were on the trip. At one point I threw a drink in a pushy man's face, but when in Rome! I ended the night at 4AM, back at the fountain where there were still lingering tourists but it was easy to get whatever photo angle you wanted. As it's one of the most popular attractions in Rome, you have to be understanding that everyone else will want to be there when you do.

We only had one day in Rome, and how the heck are you supposed to do everything in Rome in one day??? We went on a guided tour of the Roman Forum and Coliseum, which honestly, the Coliseum wasn't all that it's cracked out to be. It was a full day of seeing ancient architecture and marveling at the generations of old. However, it was also an extremely hot day of almost 90 degrees, and in old architecture there isn't air conditioning!
Despite the heat, Rome was still an amazing time and we dined on excellent food, wherever we went. It was a fantastic bonding experience for the group to start our vacation with. I highly recommend spending at least 3 days in Rome so you don't wear yourself out, and especially give yourself time to recover from the heat and the probable lots of walking that you will be partaking in.
